Volume XXVII                                                  Issue # 27                                                      Feb. 11, 2008

It’s Monday noon!  GO TO ROTARY!!!

It’s not so important where we are standing but in what direction we are moving.

Our greeter for today:  John Rohde has resigned;  President Lee rendered a 4-way test oriented prayer.

Visiting Rotarian – Jim Siddall of the Princeton Club.

Happy Buck – Diane Shady for daughter, Sarsh’s winning the $1,000 scholarship from the Waukesha Rotary Club.

February 21 – STRIVE Meeting.  “You have the job, what must you do to keep the job.”/

Prize for Lee’s question – Hiring of 120 new employees at Alliance Laundry required interviewing of  398 applicants.  Roy Yeomans wins box of chocolates with Dave Duehring.

Sgt. at Arms:  Past Super Bowl winners.  2 tables won – 3 paid.

SELL ROSES – THEN SELL MORE ROSES for March 5 – Rose Day.

John Porter has also resigned from Rotary and Sue Finch Brown is transferring her membership to a club in the West.  I believe either Arizona or Colorado.

Program:  Lisa Hale introduced Dr.Patricia Sias, Internal Medicine Specialist at R.M.C.  She is a prospective member, a Wisconsin native, who presented a lecture on Osteoporosis.  It is not just a disease of elderly women.  It is a disease in which the bones become weak and are more likely to break.  People with osteoporosis most often break bones in the hip, spine and wrist.

There are many risk factors – Gender, age, body size, Ethnicity and family history.  These factors cannot change, there are other risk factors too, whish can change.

Can it be prevented?  Yes!  Eat a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, exercise, don’t drink in excess or smoke.

Thanks Lisa and Dr. Sias for this program!

Next week – Greeter & Prayer – John Rockwood

Program – Diana Tscheschlok, Christian Tscheschlok’s wife.  She is the Community Development Educator at UW Extension in Fond du Lac and recently received a grant to study immigration.  She will be speaking about the Mexico immersion experience and her position at UW Extension.

Thought for today: Lord—when I see a wrong or an injustice and am afraid to speak up, I pray You will give me the courage to voice my objections.  Amen

Nothing so needs reforming as other people’s habits.
