With a long-range view of Ripon Rotary's goals and financial resources, the Rotary Club of Ripon Charitable Foundation was created. Its purpose is to provide an organization for accepting gifts that meet the IRS requirements for tax deductible donations and to provide in the Foundation a governing body that will relate closely the goals of the Foundation and those of the Club as a whole. Affairs of the Foundation are conducted by a seven-member committee. One member is the current president of the Club. All contributions to the Foundation serve to build up the principle. Disbursements are to be made only from earnings of the principle. The primary goal of the Foundation is to stimulate donations. Donors are recognized appropriately for their generosity. Distributions are used only for charitable purposes within the Ripon Community. Especially, it is hoped that donors will use their estate planning as a means of contribution to the fund by providing for bequests. The first donation was a $1,000 gift by Jeff Root in memory of his father, Ralph Root, who served many years as secretary of Ripon Rotary. Rik Rikkers, Club president of 1996/97, was a leader in establishing the Foundation, founded June 11, 1987. |
