Ott of the local American Legion Post 0043 gave us a History of the Legion, first organized in 1919. The local Clubhouse was originally a Baptist Church, built in the mid 1800’s. In 1945, a fire resulted in repairing the building. It is still on the original foundation which is breaking up and needs repair. In 1949 there were 240 members. Now there are 76. Through out the U.S. there are still 2,500,000. Locally the Post is active in Legion Baseball, Badger Boys State, Oratorical Contests, taking youngsters to County Courthouse, visiting Court Chambers, Register of Deed and Contributing to Scholarships. Thanks, Ed, for your dedication to the Legion. I’m proud to be a member!! Next Week – Greeter & Prayer – David Sakrison Program – Club Assembly Thought for today—God – when I reach out to You and find You, I am strengthened. Hold my hand and walk with me today. Amen. A friend is a push when you’re stopped, a word when you’re lonely, a guide when you’re searching, a smile when you’re sad, a song when you’re glad. Scribe -- Rich Carley -- 748-3391 |
