Sgt. at Arms: Rick Coles and Quiz on Polio – Our table did well! 4 out of 5 correct. No Pay!! Program: Lee introduced Rick Debe of the Mukwonago Club, who gave a great presentation on Polio Plus and Polio Plus Partners. Our club is the 45th club he has given this and tonight he presents it to Berlin. President F.D. Roosevelt started the Warm Springs, GA. Center with his own money. He contracted the disease when he was in his 30’s. This is the first time a Service Club has spearheaded a program to eradicate Polio. Now only India, Pakistan and 2 other countries still have the disease. Northern India is the biggest challenge and with the new monovalent vaccine produced in the area and dispensed by locals, it can be done. For every $1.00 you contribute, Rotary International contributes 50 cents and the Gates Foundation contributes dollar for dollar. That’s a 3 times gift. So give if and what you can!! Thanks much Rick, for an excellent presentation. You are an example of “Service Above Self”!! Next Week – Greeter & Prayer – Bill Boutwell Program: Dr. Blake Waterhouse and a comparison of the Presidential Candidates Health Care Proposals. Thought for today: Teach me Lord, how to be silent in Your presence and how to achieve inner tranquility. Silence my questioning thoughts and let me glow in Your love. Amen. The ladder of success may now be an elevator – but it’s still self serving. Scribe -- Rich Carley -- 748-3391 |
