                We too often love things and use people, when we should be using things and loving people. 

Tis the graduation season:  You should have attended your club weekly meeting to day at Royal Ridges – 12:00 noon for the STRIVE program Graduation. 

                President Lee led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and also rendered a great prayer. 

Many guests today:

(1)     7 of the 8 students in the STRIVE program., plus Rob Webster, his generous donation kept the

STRIVE program flying.

(2)     Richard Zimman – School District Superintendent

(3)     Mr. Hazel – School District Guidance Counselor.

(4)     Janira Romero – Spanish Inbounder

(5)     Max Kulick – New student of the month.

(a)     Max is into everything – Sports, Music, and hopes to become an engineer. 

Welcome back for the summer to Dr. Blake Waterhouse, ready to pick up the reigns of our local foundation. 

Hiway Cleanup last Saturday—Team led by Tim Lyke produced some interesting finds – Map of Iowa, Osmond Family Book, People Magazine Cover, and a book on swimming—Leading all to believe that Rick Coles did the littering. 

Sgt. at Arms – Rick Coles and product advertising slogans.—Our table paid!! 

Commendation:  Be Proud!! At the recent District Conference, your club received a Presidential Citation and only 12 of 50 clubs received this.  For increasing our membership and having projects in 5 different categories. 

Program:  The program today consisted of meeting 7 of the 8 graduates of the STRIVE program and some of their parents, who were able to attend.  Doug Bradley, leader, introduced all with President Lee, as they both ran the STRIVE program.  Scholarships were given for attendance, grade point improvement.  2 levels of scholarship.

                1st. year recipients were—

(1)     Stephanie Leu -- $175.00 – Her Dad, Larry Leu was present.

(2)     Lance Carstensen --$175.00

(3)     Dan Kasuboski -- $175.00 – His Mom, Nadene.

2nd year recipients were—

(1)     Garrick Salzman --$325.00  -- Garrick wasn’t present

(2)     Dan Rigo -- $325.00

(3)     Aly Rivers -- $450.00

(4)     Shawn Kovalaske -- $325.00 – His Mom, Mary Kovalaske

(5)     Courtney Groveau -- $750.00

Kudos to Doug and Lee for their excellent leadership!! 

Happy Buck Karen Geisler for her daughters friend.

Diane, Tim and Kim Shady went to Waukesha as Kim won $1,000.00 scholarship from the Waukesha Club. 

No meeting next Monday – Memorial Day

                Program – Dr. Roy Yeomans presents Dr. Mark Edinger, speaking on Diet and effects on Chronic Inflammation. 

Profiles of Rotary Scholarship Award Recipients / Spring 2008 

Casey Zabel -- $1500 – Bob Exner Citizenship Award Scholarship

                Hopes to attend UW La Crosse of Marquette

                Major as yet is undecided 

Aysia Platte --$1000 – Cal Schaub Scholarship

                Heading for South Africa on a year-long youth exchange then hopes to attend Ripon College

                Major – elementary education and French

Carol Lam -- $750.00 – Ralph Root Scholarship     

University of Wisconsin. Madison

Major – Pharmacy or health services related.

Kira Fritsch -- $750.00 – Gordon Minch Technical Scholarship

Fox Valley Tech or Univ. of Minnesota

Major – Interior Design..  

Thought for today:  God – I know You will not burden me with a bigger load than I can carry.  I look to You to give me the strength I need in times of adversity.  Amen. 

                Of course, money can’t buy everything.  That’s why there are credit cards.
