Only twenty members present today. Attendance is a requirement of membership. Greeter and Prayer today: Tommy Hobbs Presiding today - president Lee Prellwitz Guests: (1) Fire Lieutenant Tom Nelson, guest of Armon Fischer (2)Hsiang Yiy Hsu (Daniel) inbounder from Taiwan Announcements: (1) Bill Denkert announced that his 14 year old son Mark has been accepted into the People to People Student Ambassador program and will be spending three weeks in the summer of 2007 in England and France. (2) Sue Finch-Brown offering tickets for sale to win a trip to the Super Bowl through the Berlin Rotary. Ripon Rotary will be holding its own raffle this year, giving away a large screen television to watch the Super Bowl on. David Sakrison will be giving updated weekly. Prepare to start selling at the end of November. (3) Doug Bradley announced that the next STRIVE meeting will be at RHS on November 14th at 9:39 in Room 167. If planning on attending and Participating in the “colors” event please notify Doug so he can order The correct number of books, and send a check for $25 to Kathy Schwandt made out to STRIVE to pay for your book. If you can attend but do not wish to attend, please let Doug know that as well. We want a good turnout to provide input on whether this program is worth the cost. (4) Nita Krenz gave a report on the Cal Schaub Scholarship Dinner. Ten Rotary inbounderes and host families attended. It was also good to see Honorary members Howard and Joan Nault, and Ralph Quinney in attendance. Sergeant at Arms Rick Coles with a ranking requirement for the six most “profitable” holidays. After informing us that Halloween was “one of the most profitable holidays” it turned out that Halloween was sixth of the six listed. A strategy that I have been known to employ myself. Everybody paid one dollar. Program: Armon Fischer introduced Fire Lieutenant Tom Nelson from the Ripon Fire Department. Lieutenant Nelson is the only full time employee of the fire department, and provided information on the make-up of the Ripon Fire Department, the equipment the department has, and an overview of the education and public services provided, the training required of members, and the inspections done twice annually of all businesses in Ripon. He also touched briefly on the Ripon Fire District, and the current issues confronting the district with the defections of the Town of Green Lake and, in the past two weeks, the Town of Metomen.
