Our Commitment to Youth and Youth Education Ripon Rotary's primary commitment is to youth and education. The chief expression of this commitment is our scholarship program which receives the lion's share of our annual operating budget. Our program supports students attending traditional post-secondary educational institutions as well as those seeking to take advantage of other valuable educational opportunities. The scholarships offered annually by our Club are listed below. Recently
our Club initiated an annual Scholarship Dinner to recognize our scholarship
recipients, their families, and their teachers as well as raise some of the
money given as scholarships. Ripon Rotary Scholarships The Ripon Rotary Club awards the following four scholarships annually to four deserving high school seniors. Bob Exner Citizenship Award Scholarship - $1500 – any Ripon High School senior planning on attending a four-year college or university. Criteria for making the selection are based on: Ø Outstanding citizen of the graduating class. Ø Demonstrates leadership, good character and conduct. Ø Class ranking in the upper fifty percent. Ø Demonstrates service to his/her community life (minimum of twenty hours.) Cal Schaub Scholarship - $1000 – any Ripon High School senior planning on attending a four-year college or university AND majoring in international studies or international business. Ø Demonstrates leadership, good character and conduct. Ø Class ranking in upper fifty percent. Ø Demonstrates service to his/her community life, OR actively participates in an international project (minimum of twenty hours.) Ralph Root Scholarship – $750 – any Ripon High School senior planning on attending a four-year college or university OR a full-time course of study at a vocational/technical college. Criteria for making the selection are based on: Ø Demonstrates leadership, good character and conduct. Ø Class ranking in the upper fifty percent. Ø Demonstrates service to his/her community life (minimum of twenty hours.) Gordon Minch Technical College Scholarship - $750 – any Ripon High School senior planning on attending a full-time course of study at a vocational/technical college. Criteria for making the selection are based on: Ø Demonstrate leadership. Good character and conduct. Ø Demonstrate service to his/her community life (minimum of twenty hours.) Ø Shows potential and interest in selected area of study.
Scholarships for
Special Summer Programs Badger Boys
State/Badger Girls State: Provides
support for one boy and one girl to attend the Wisconsin Boys State/Girls State
conference each year. Selection
made by Boys State and Girls State organizations. ACE Program
Scholarship: Provides support
for one student to attend the Advanced College Experience at Ripon College each
summer. Selection is made by the
ACE Program organization. Ripon Leadership
Seminar: Provides support for
one Ripon High School student to attend the Leadership Seminar at Ripon College.
Selection of the student is made by Ripon High School. World Affairs
Seminar: Provides support for
one student from Ripon High School to attend the World Affairs Seminar each
summer. Selection is made by Ripon
High School. In addition, our
Rotary District also provides a scholarship for attendance at this conference. Scholarships for
International Programs and Exchanges: Rotary International
Youth Exchange Program: The
Club provides support for one or two Ripon High School students to participate
in the Rotary International Youth Exchange program for a year. Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship Program: This program is funded and administered by Rotary International. It provides generous funds to send one or two students from our Rotary District for a year study abroad. Several Ripon area students have received these Ambassadorial Scholarships in past years. Promising students are nominated by their clubs with the recipients selected by a District Committee. |
